Why so serious? Because a potentially decent Batman game is upon us, that's why

    Batman: Arkham Asylum Trailer

Like movies to video game adaptations, comic book characters also struggle in finding success over their video game iterations. Even the great Batman is no exception as the only decent game I can remember with him in it was still during the good ol' NES days.

Thank God there's none of them nipples in sight on this one

The current gaming generation will try to take a stab at it again, this time with Batman: Arkham Asylum published by Eidos Interactive Ltd. which will be available on PC, PS3, XBOX 360 on the 2nd quarter of the year. Early hands-on impressions seems fairly positive and the graphics looks astonishing based on the trailer and early screens.

    Other infos on the game:

    - it uses the unreal engine, same engine used in such games as gears of war and bioshock

    - it has it's own storyline, which means it's not connected or based on the movie versions of Batman unlike most of his previous games

    - The Joker and Batman is voiced by Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy, they were also the voices behind the awesome animated series back then. Good thing I wouldn't have to hear Bats say "I'm the Batmannnn" with phlegm all over his throat this time around, right Bale?

    - It will be played in 3rd person view

    - The current trailer alone puts our local full length movie trailers to shame

    Chew on this!
    Friday, January 30, 2009

Finally managed to make my 2nd vector artwork. (1st one can be seen HERE.)

Nope, it's not an ad for a new bubble gum product.

It was based on a picture of my "daughter" Nikita. Funny thing is that I got lazy when I was about to start on the mouth part so I just ad-libbed a bubble gum balloon instead, it surprisingly turned out for the better as it offered contrast which made the vector art more vibrant overall.

I'm more efficient with the layer count this time around even though it's a little more detailed than the 1st one I did.

    In a nutshell,
    - vector art name: "Chew on this!"
    - tools of the trade: Adobe Photoshop CS3
    - time took to finish it: still the whole day dammit!
    - laziness does have it's upsides
    - made me crave for some bubble gum right after I finished the vector artwork

Proof that hot girls playing video games is not just a myth
    Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Unlike the yet undiscovered myth of the Loch Ness monster, the myth of hot girls playing video games can now be finally put to rest as one of Hollywood's hottest starlets Megan Fox (The Transformers fame) became undeniable proof that they do exist when she was photographed playing Guitar Hero.

    Megan Fox playing Guitar Hero

I initially had no idea on how the dude on her left maintained his hand and eye coordination throughout the game knowing that Megan Fox is just inches away from him. If I was in his situation, my head would've exploded already. So I finally concluded that he can only be one of three things:

    1.) a relative of Megan
    2.) is ghay
3.) has some rare but serious eye problem depriving him of his peripheral vision

She's cool, young, rich, beautiful, admittedly loves to have sex like a horny teenage boy, and plays video games. Now if only she could act, then she'll be perfect!

There you have it folks another myth conveniently squashed, bring it on bigfoot and chupacabra!

Successfully make a decent Carter patch? That's Vinsanity!
    Thursday, January 22, 2009

Ever get fed up that New Jersey Nets star Vince Carter always looks like Krulos of Dino-Riders by default on most basketball games through the years? Hell, it may well be the reason why he isn't playing at the same level that he used too in real life because the disappointment he feels from game developers not nailing his likeness is rubbing off on his game.

So I temporary took some time off making legends to personally take a stab on this poorly represented athlete.

    Vince Carter Patch

    things I updated:

    - more detailed face (blemishes, pores, and imperfections all accounted for)
    - two versions of VC to choose from (shaved and bearded respectively)
    - re-did the skintone
    - wtf look that VC normally expresses
    - pussy like eyebrows

    UPDATE:

I finally finished my VC patch, you can get it HERE. <---- Click on it.

    Hail to the chief!

Mr. Obama with his family and former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney

It's official, the most powerful man of the free world is now Barack Hussein Obama. The inauguration for the 44th U.S. President was still fairly festive even though the weather went as low as subzero temperatures. An estimation of 3 million people attended the the historic event.

Only time will tell if he could turn things around and make the necessary changes as to what he always preaches since the one that preceded him left a huge economic burden for him and his administration to carry.

Start of the poorly planted segway initiated

I got inspired with the iconic poster he used during his presidential campaign so I made my own one using the vector artwork I did HERE as base, just a little tweak here and there and some re-colors and voila! Instant homage.

I can now run as the ruler of the "internetz!" Mwahaha... wait, what? there's no such thing? Dammit!

    Knowing is half the battle
    Monday, January 19, 2009

Yes, even manly men should be aware of it.

So today highlights National Cancer Awarness Month. Cancer is one of the leading causes of fatalities all over the globe, no one is safe from it no matter what race, nationality, gender, religion, or social class you are in. Treatments to this day is expensive and doesn't always guarantee success.

My aunt (mom's older sister) died from cancer of the saecum when I wasn't even concieved yet, she was still in the prime of her life when she was diagnosed with it, and wasn't given a chance to start her own family because of it. According to my mom's recollection, my aunt went through a lot of pain in the process which was a traumatizing and difficult time for all of them.

For the unfortunate victims of the big C, just keep hanging in there and be strong. For the healthy ones that are not aware, I encourage you to educate yourselves on how to detect and possibly prevent it... because after all, knowing is already half the battle.

If you've just been dropped and it don't look good, who ya gonna call? A-TA-RI!
    Monday, January 12, 2009

Back in early 2007 when it was announced by Sierra Entertainment that they were working on a Ghostbuster video game Jepoy and I automatically got hyped for it even though video games based on movies throughout history was more of a miss than a hit.

It's because we were such huge fans back in the day and knowing later on that the game will be written by the same writers of the movie (Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis) and that the whole cast will reprise their roles (Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Harold Ramis) this time to give life to their CGI counterparts, it seemed that this game is poised to break that age old perception.

Everything seemed all set until Activision recently signed a merger with Sierra Entertainment's parent company Vivendi Games and dropping the Ghostbusters video game off their lineup which made the game's status suddenly unclear.

Good thing they were picked up by Atari before hitting total obscurity taking over the publishing duties and confirming that a release date is finally set on June 19 for Europe and June 16 for North America on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, and PlayStation 2

Big props to Atari for giving this game a chance. Just remember this coming June guys, don't cross the streams.

The new "Baconator" hamburger by Wendy's.

Wendy's new monstrosity of a burger dubbed as the "Baconator" is now out locally. Boasting of 1/4 pound beef patty, another 1/4 pound of beef patty, a slice of American cheese, another American slice of cheese (feels like deja vu ain't it?), topped with six slices of bacon, then finally being slathered with mayo and ketchup. Hell, they didn't even bother including toppings that makes a burger look healthy anymore like lettuce or tomatoes even though it comes from a fastfood chain known for having their own salad bar.

It's currently billed as the biggest hamburger in the world, and Wendy's Phils. is actually having a "Conquer the Baconator" eating contest in which everyone can join. Just make sure you have a bunch of of statin pills at hand preferably placed in a Pez dispenser so you can pop those suckers up like breath mints before AND after joining the contest.

It would be fun too see what the competitors or Wendy's themselves come up with next, because the only thing I could think of to top this is to change the mayo and ketchup with lard itself, make it ten bacon strips instead of six, and deep fry the whole burger to golden crisp perfection.

Too bad I'm having high blood pressure as of late due to all the holiday binging and all I could do is just painfully ogle at all the greasy goodness seen on the pic above.

    Dallas Cubans
    Friday, January 9, 2009

I was playing with the Mavs earlier and noticed that 2K screwed up their jerseys big time. From the team colors, trims, the necktype, hell even the stitchmarks. I'm normally not a team gear patcher but this is one gear that personally need some extra lovin'.

*click the pics to make them bigger

    Dallas Mavericks Current Gear Update

    things I updated:

    - corrected every color palette matching their real life team colors
    - re-did all the logos, wordmarks, even the NBA logo with a slightly higher resolution ones
    - corrected the road and alternate headband colors
    - corrected the neck type for their home gear
    - corrected the v-neck stitches of their home and road gears to the t-neck ones as it should be

Now if only I could correct Mark Cuban's decision of trading Devin Harris for an aging Jason Kidd, too bad time machines don't exist like patching tools.

    UPDATE:

It's already released, you can get it with your grubby little hands HERE. <---- Click on it.

    Love thy neighbor

Some of my friends are also lingering in the blogosphere, so make sure to check their sites too:

    Captain's Log - www.jepoy.bengero.com

The most senior of the bunch in regards to blogging. He tackles the more controversial topics on the internet and is definitely not afraid to speak his mind about it, garnering himself his fair share of e-stalkers in the process. =P

    The Geekothon - www.geekothon.com
    Rambunctious Ramblings - www.markbravo.net

Authored by the same person, The Geekothon is a must visit site for people who loves all things geek. While Rambunctious Ramblings tackles more on his personal misadventures, political views, and boasts of a layout that would make even Bayani Fernando himself proud.

    Lalaine's World - www.lalaine.gameops.net
Spice Up Your Life - www.peppersoriano.com

Girl powarrr! Both female authored blogs offer their recommendations, personal views on current events, experiences, and some of the quirkiest topics that I previously thought only the Japanese could think of.

And as an added info for all the hot blooded males out there, both authors are tall, smart, pretty and most of all... are taken already. =P

The Video Game Fan - www.bibiduck.com

It's like the gameOPS lite, or should I say gameOPS heavy... heavy on video game rumors that is. Although it's a spinoff of some sorts of the latter , it's still a good site to visit if you're someone who just can't get enough of video game related materials.

"Takipsilim" will never see the light of day
    Friday, January 2, 2009

The disgruntled fans of Twilight (which I'm thankfully not a part of) can finally have their peace of mind now, the rumored local version remake aptly named "Takipsilim" was finally confirmed not to be true by ABS-CBN.

What are you waiting for GMA, the competitor already dropped the ball. Maybe you can pick it up and make another "successful" run at a foreign IP like what you did with Zaido, Marimar, Lalola and Zorro.

More info on the matter can be found on my friend Jepoy's blog HERE.
